6/24/2008 - (Hewitt, NJ) -- This past weekend was Round 2 of the Rotax North East Series held at Oakland Valley Race Park in Cuddebackville, NY. This is a series that is held all over the United States in different regions and the top drivers from each region will qualify for a spot in the Grand Nationals that are being held at USAIR in Shawano, WI, September 2008. From there all of the best drivers in the US will be competing for a spot on America's Team to go to the World Finals to be held in Italy in October 2008.

Cole's first outing in this class went quite well after all of the motor problems that we had on practice day. This would be Cole's second outing and all went quite well.

Practice day was on Saturday and his Maranello Kart and Rotax Motor were working well. A bit slower then he wanted to be, but they made some final adjustments at the end of the day to try out in the practice rounds on Sunday Morning.

On Sunday there was the threat of rain from the moment the team arrived at the track. A huge thunder storm rolled in right before practice was about to begin so that already started the day off behind schedule. The news was now the weather was going to clear so we opted not to go out for the first practice because it was mandatory rain tires and we knew the track would be dry for the second round.  Cole went out for the second round and was a bit slower then the CRG Driver Anthony Llopiz. Before qualifying Cole decided that a gearing change needed to be made.

The skies were still clear for qualifying.  The session was green, green, white, checkered. It seemed that the gearing change and fresh tires made the difference, Cole put himself on the Pole for the Heat Race by 2 10ths over 2nd spot Zinardi Driver, Grant Shilling.

Besides the Rotax Series going on there were also Club Events taking place so the schedule for the day was full. At some point during the Heat Races the Thunder Storms arrived again and hung around for quite awhile. At this point only 125 Senior Rotax and Rotax Masters were left to complete their Heat Races. Because we were running out of time the days results would be complete by your finish in the Heat Race.

After the thunder and lightening stopped the 125 Senior Rotax Class hit the track on under wet conditions.  Cole starting from the Pole took off with CRG Driver Anthony Llopiz right behind him. For the first several laps the two would trade positions back and forth. It was evident that Cole was faster then Llopiz and Llopiz began to drive a defensive line. When going up the hill before the straightaway Llopiz spun on his own going off the track and Cole once again took over the lead. It took Llopiz awhile to get started and back on the track. This gave Cole a very comfortable lead over the remainder of the field. Cole would win the 15 lap race by several seconds.

Next race for this series will be June 28th and 28th at F-1 Outdoors, East Bridgewater, MA.

Cole would like to thank his partners for their continued support of his racing career.  Thanks to Jon Nevoso, Nevoso Racing/San Yves Motorsports, Shupp's Kart Shop, Savage Designs, World Wide Bearings and Walters Web Design.
